Thing 1 & Thing 2

"'I will pick up the hook.
You will see something new.
Two things. And I call them
Thing One and Thing Two.
These Things will not bite you.
They want to have fun.'
Then out of the box
Came Thing Two and Thing One!"

"Then those Things ran about
With big bumps, jumps and kicks
And with hops and big thumps
And all kinds of bad tricks."
-Dr. Seuss's The Cat in the Hat

Thing One and Thing Two were up to all kinds of mischief tonight:
-throwing food
-throwing drinks
-jumping on the oven door, the dishwasher door, and the dryer door
-pulling every book and picture off the bookshelf
-pulling pages out of scrapbooks
-trying to make their own snow cones with the snow cone maker Mike bought Saxon this summer
-spilling snow cone syrup all over the table
-getting out every toy we own
-throwing wash cloths in the bath all over until they stuck to the ceiling (all 4 of them)
-flooding the bathroom
-eating saltines on the carpet...they make a huge mess
-Saxon tells me "I'll eat you up!" like Max from "Where the Wild Things Are"
-Bridger is my little pin-ball machine. I move him away from one thing and he bounces off to another. He never runs out of ideas or mischief.
-Being their usual crazy, messy, funny selves.

Then, when it was bedtime, they snuggled on my lap, read a story, sang a song, said a prayer, and went to bed. It was wonderful. I love my little Thing One and Thing Two. I think I would be bored if I had a children who weren't quite so crazy busy and creative. :)

"You're so smart honey!"

Yesterday, when we were running errands, one of the songs from Twilight came on the radio.

Saxon: "Hey Mom. This a Twilight song."
Me: "Yeah, you're right."
Saxon: "No. Mom. This a Twilight song."
Me: "I know. You're right."
Saxon: "No. Mom. You need a say, 'you're so smart honey.' Like that... Mom. This a Twilight Song."
Me: "You're so smart honey!"
Saxon: "Yeah, like that." (laugh)

Then we all start laughing and Saxon gets embarrassed and tells us "Don't be funny!", meaning, "don't laugh at me." He's so funny! I love all the little things that he comes up with. Sometimes when Bridger first wakes up, Saxon will rub his back and says, "hi honey." Or when he tells us that he's pretty sure our house has been invaded by bad sheep, but not to worry because he knows Kung Fu. Or how he asks to watch HGTV so that he can snuggle in my bed. I love how every time I cook, I hear two chairs come zooming around the corner. Each boy has to bring his own chair to come join the action in the kitchen. I love the sweet things they do too. Like when Saxon prayed for Heavenly Father to make his friend better because she broke her arm. Or how Bridger will randomly come up and give me a big, wet, kiss, and then use his baby sign language to ask for candy :) I love these little guys!

Karaoke Night

Last night, Mike took us to Pirate Island, and it turned out to be Karaoke Night.
My kids LOVED it!
They danced their little hearts out.
Saxon begged me to sing "Best of Both Worlds" with him, but I'm not that brave.
Where's Aunt Brookie when you need her?

Andi found some cheap rain boots at Kid-to-Kid for Bridger and he won't take them off.
So, the boys both danced in their rain boots all night.

Saxon had a crush on our server and followed her around the restaurant.
I could heard some of the other employees teasing her, "Watch out, here comes your boyfriend."
When the "bubbles" started (the lights on the floor), Saxon asked her to dance and she said yes. She was so nice to him!
Thanks Mike! If we go again, it's going to have to be on a Thursday again :)

Finally working...

So, Mike came over last night and was finally able to get our computer working again! :)
We decided to let the kids soak in an oatmeal bath while Mike worked, to get them out of his way. Saxon kept begging Mike to take a picture of him, but Mike wouldn't budge until Saxon was no longer running around naked. So, this is what he came up with:

The boys didn't last long in the bath because they couldn't stand missing out on what Mike was doing. So, after Bridger climbed out and ran around the house wet and nudie, Nate caught him, lotioned him, and put a diaper on him. Then came Saxon running around the house wet and nudie. While Nate was chasing him, we hear a splash:

Bridger had climbed back in the bath with is diaper on and was "swimming."
Saxon couldn't let Bridger be the funniest one, so he put his undies on inside out and climbed in the bath to do some swimming of his own:
What a pair!
These two wear me out :)

-Earlier, I was on the phone with Gregor (because Saxon begged to call him and tell him to come home) and while I'm talking, Bridger starts climbing in the dryer. When I wrestle Bridger out of the dryer, I turn around and Saxon is standing on the counter eating fistfuls of brown sugar. They always get into trouble at the same time. Sometimes I wonder if they plan it...

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day!
I hope everyone had a great day!

I haven't been able to post pictures on my blog lately due to some computer issues.
Luckily, I know a computer genius (Mike), and he's working on it for me.
So, hopefully soon, I will be able to post some of the cute pictures that I've taken.

For Valentine's Day, Mike came over and we all had dinner together.
Everyone got See's Candy for Valentine's Day.
Except for Bubby, he got a little 3 pack of chocolates which he ate all at the same time.
Then he wanted to crawl all over Mike and dripped chocolate slobber all over him.
Saxon got his very own See's Candy and was thrilled.
And he was excited to give Mike the candy we got for him.
Nate got me See's and a book I've been wanting, and the New Moon soundtrack.
He's so thoughtful!
We agreed not to buy anything this year because we don't have any money, but he told me that the C.D. was from Saxon, and the book was from Bridger, so he didn't get me anything.
I love him!

Cheesecake Face

For our Superbowl party, we made pulled pork sandwiches, and strawberry cheesecake for dessert. (Obviously, the boys were in charge on the meal plan). Since we have a TON of leftovers, we got out some of the cheesecake tonight. Bubby went nuts! He was supposed to have a bite of Nate's, but instead, took over Nate's fork and ate the whole slice. He LOVES cheesecake.
Saxon ate some cheesecake because he didn't want Bridger to show him up. He made sure I took some pictures to prove it too. His favorite though, was the pulled pork sandwiches. Guess what he had for breakfast this morning...that's right...a pulled pork sandwich and corn. That's all he wanted.

We had a fun little Superbowl party with Mike and Jeff & Meg. Saxon got to show off Juarez to someone who actually is interested (Jeff) and that made his day. Saxon somehow decided that Megan would take Pirate Island. He woke up this morning and said, "I wish Megan was here." I asked him why and he said, "Because she's gonna take me to Pirate Island." Good luck Megan! :) He's been thinking a lot about Pirate Island because we met Jared, Janalee and the kids there on Saturday. Jared is so good with Saxon and Saxon loves the attention. Today, he was on his phone (the remote control) calling Uncle Jared. He kept telling me, "Shh Mom, I'm trying to talk to Uncle Jared!" It was so cute!

Big Fat Trouble

This is what my little one has been up to:
Getting in BIG, FAT, TROUBLE!
While Nate was cooking him a veggie patty, he emptied the trash can, and a box of grape nuts. Then he ice-skated through the middle of them.
When we informed him that he was in big, fat, trouble, he handed Nate the broom.
Always so helpful.

On Monday we had Bridger's 18 month check-up.
He refused to sit on the table, so the doctor let him sit in the chair instead.
It turns out that he is in the 95% for weight and the 85% for height...my big guy :)
He had to get 3 shots and he was not happy about it. He was mostly mad that they held him down. When the nurses finished, he ripped off the band-aids and threw them at them. Saxon saved the day by asking the receptionist for some stickers.

So, since both boys were so good, (and since we had a gift certificate), we took them to Kangaroo Zoo. They had a blast, and I think it made up for spending the morning at the doctor's office.
