April & May Art Work

Since I didn't post Saxon's April artwork, here is April and May:

They learned about Earth Day and seasons.

They talked about Cinco de Mayo, the life of a tadpole, and nightlife.
I like the "Nn-night" picture.  They made little moths out of their fingerprints.

They talked about Easter and Springtime and plants.

Here is Saxon in his Cinco de Mayo hat with his Cinco de Mayo Donkey :)
Then they made these cute little flowers that say, "Something is blooming for Mother's Day..."

"LOVE"
How cute!
His little ducky says,
"My little yellow duck is really very funny,
for when I turn him over, he becomes and Easter bunny!"

And his little Easter basket.
Saxon has had such a great year at preschool.
We LOVE his teacher and we LOVE his school.
I went back and forth for a long time whether or not to start him in Kindergarten next year.  He makes the cut off by just a few days.  The more I thought about it, and the more I talked to people, it seems like most kids do better when they start older.  So, I decided to wait.  Not only for his sake, but for mine.  I'm not ready to have him gone yet.  I would miss him.
Sometimes I get the reaction from people "Oh, he's not ready for kindergarten then..."  No, actually it's the opposite.  He's totally ready.  He did AMAZING in preschool.  He's socially capable and he is smart and learns fast.  I think he would be fine in kindergarten.  I'm waiting because when I think of the 2 options, this one feels better to me.  I don't know what will happen down the road, or where we'll be in a year, so I would rather keep him home as long as possible.  Nate graduated from high school, went to one semester of college, and then went on a mission.  Saxon could do the same thing (rather than having to wait over a year) and since I want him to be like his dad, this is what we're doing.
So, now that the decision is made, I just feel relieved.
I have one more year of Saxon all to myself.  We'll do preschool with Ms. Nettie again and Saxon LOVES her so we are so excited!

Strawberries and Sweet Peas

We have a pot on the balcony with strawberries and sweet peas.
We got our first little strawberry:
So, Saxon picked it and ate it.
Bridger was sad, so he claimed every other baby strawberry on the plant.
Then he picked them.
Now we don't have any more strawberries.
The peas have a lot of flowers though, so I'm hoping they will start making peas soon...

Starting the garden

We were finally able to get our garden started this year.
Nate made the trenches a few weeks ago, but he's been working so much, and the weather hasn't been good, so we haven't been able to finish it.
On Saturday, however, the weather was GORGEOUS!

We spent 3 hours gardening!
Here's a few pictures:

After 3 hours, we were exhausted and sunburned, and ready to go.
I forget how long everything takes.
All we did was bury the drip lines, add the compost and bunny poop (people swear by it so we loaded up at Jeff's house), and plant the onions.  I had high hopes of also getting the carrots and radishes planted, but oh well.  Now all we need is some more nice weather and some free time :)
The best part was, my boys worked so hard that they fell asleep right after their baths.

Tulip Festival again...

On Thursday the weather was beautiful and Saxon didn't have school, so we decided to head over to the tulip festival again.

It was incredible!
We brought snacks and drinks and played and rolled down the hill and got slushies on the way home.  It was perfect!

Check out Dalton's "Nate face" in this picture:
It makes me laugh :)

The things they say...

I love the things my kids say!  They have me cracking up all day over the things that they come up with and the way they say things.

-The other day Nate was changing Dalton's diaper in the bedroom and Bridger was in the bath.  Nate started singing Taylor Swift "Some day I'll be..." and Bridger belts out from the bathroom "Livin' in a big ol' city!"

-Saxon asked me when Dalton was going to get "sparkles" like him.  Sparkles?  So he pointed.  Oh, freckles :)

-Jeff is always teasing Saxon that we are going to trade one of the girls for Dalton.  That way Jeff can have a boy and we get a girl.  Last time Saxon told him "No, I like Dalton because he sucks on my nose!"

-Bridger always asking me to "stip it" aka zip his jacket.

-They LOVE to sing the song "scripture power!"  Every FHE has to be somehow related to scripture study so that they can sing "scripture power" for the opening and closing song.

There are so many more!  I wish I could think of and write down everything they say because they are so funny!  I'll keep posting more as I think of them...

Dinosaur Museum

I don't take many pictures at the Dinosaur Museum anymore because we go so often.
But, the 2 of them hanging out on the dinosaur was too cute.
Saxon is in his jammies because they had a PJ and movie party at school that day :)

Bridger is a Child of God

I tried to get Bridger to model my new "I am a Child of God" sign that I painted.
He didn't really have the hang of "modeling" but he sure is cute!
