Saxon

Since my Mom and Grandma have been in town, I moved all of the bath toys into my bathtub so that they didn't have to deal them. Saxon likes my bathtub because its bigger than his and has more things to get into. He can play in the bath for hours. I usually make him get out by the time he reaches 2 hours because the water is too cold. The other day, he suddenly got really quiet, so I went in to check on him.

-"Mom! Get out. Don't look at my business!"
~You're business?
-"Yeah. Get out of my business."
~Why don't you show me your business and I can decide.

He pulled out from behind his back, my razor, and Nate's razor.

~What are you doing with those?
-"Shaving my legs."
~Boys don't shave their legs.
-"Yes them do! I have spikes. I don't like spiky legs."
~Daddy has hairy legs.
-"I don't have hairy legs. Look..."

Sure enough, he shaved his legs from ankle to hip.

On Saturday, we went to go see Brittany! The boys were SO EXCITED that she lives here again! Johnse let him play with a bunch of the toys while they unpacked. He tried out the rollerblades, and fell in love with the snorkeling set. Brittany let him borrow it because he cried so hard about taking it off.

On Sunday, we got the kids up and ready for church. Just as it was time to go, Saxon decides that he's not going. After arguing and threatening, we compromised that he could bring the snorkel, as long as he was REALLY good in church.

They asked Nate to pass the sacrament this Sunday, and the kids were SO SAD that he couldn't sit with us. So, Saxon strapped on his full snorkel outfit (flippers, goggles, snorkel) and dove over me to chase Nate down while he was doing the sacrament. I was trying so hard not to laugh out loud that I ended up almost crying instead. Some people laughed, and some gave me that horrified "what kind of parent are you" look.

After the sacrament, Saxon settled back down and was really good for the rest of the meeting. Then, just as it's time for Sunbeams, he decides that he can't go unless can wear his snorkel. So he did. I didn't even care. I would rather have him go happily, than fight him about it every week. That is why sometimes he is Batman, sometimes he is Woody, and on Sunday, he was Scuba Steve. I told his teacher that if he was naughty or distracting, that she could come get me and I would take away the snorkel. It turns out that he kept his promise and was really good.

When we got home, I asked him what people thought about him going to Sunbeams in his snorkel. He told me, "Them thought, 'Cool snorkel Saxy.'" :)

St. Patrick's Day

Last week, my Grandma Beth came into town for a painting seminar.
She was able to come into town a few days early and stay with us.
We shopped, ran errands, spent time with Aunt Joyce, and ate way too much!
It was wonderful!
My boys couldn't get enough of her!
Saxon would run circles around her saying, "try to pinch my bum Grandma!"
He kept getting out his water paints to show off his talent.
He snuggled her on the couch and followed her everywhere.
When we had to drop her off at the hotel, he cried the whole way out to the car, begging to stay with Grandma Beth.
He would definitely be a "Grandma's Boy" if we lived closer.
Thanks for coming Grandma!
We LOVE you!

After dropping Grandma off at her hotel, we went straight to the airport to pick up my mom.
I only get to see her a couple of times a year, so I was so excited!
She even brought Saxon a Mr. Potato Head that he named "Humpty Dumpty."
Bridger got a puzzle, but was a little jealous of Humpty Dumpty, so Grammie bought him one too.
Our time went way too fast. I miss her.

On St. Patrick's Day, Nate brought us home bagels and cream cheese and green bagel poppers:
My mom helped us make our traditional St. Patrick's Day dinner (corned beef, cabbage, potatoes) and we had Mike over.
My mom got some cute pictures of all of us wearing green, but I need to get them from her.

Thank you so much Mom for flying out!!!
We had SO MUCH FUN and I wish we could see you more often.
We LOVE you so much!!!!!

Bachelor Party

Dear Mom and Dad,

We hope you're having fun celebrating your 5th anniversary. There is no need to hurry home. We have been having so much fun with Mike. Here's what we did today while you were gone...

1. Jumped on the bed

2. Went to the BYU volleyball game with Mike and Jeff. Ate treats and sugar and popsicles and watched BYU beat USC in 4 games. We missed most of the 4th game though because we had tons of energy from all the sugar and couldn't sit still so we had to run around the track in the Smith Fieldhouse a couple times.

3. Came home and crashed because we were worn out from all the fun.

Mike is the best babysitter... since we fell asleep in the car he didn't make us take a bath, put on our jammies, or brush our teeth.

Love,
Saxon and Bridger

5 years...

March 19, 2005

5 years ago today, Nate and I were married in the Los Angeles Temple.
It was perfect and beautiful!
(even though it rained)

A lot has happened since then, but I couldn't be happier with where we are today:

I LOVE YOU!
I'm so grateful that our family is forever!

V.I.P.

Mike invited us and Jeff & Meg to go to Disney on Ice last night.
I didn't ask him where our tickets were, because I didn't care. We were just thrilled to be going.
So, we followed Mike down, and he takes us past the all of the stadium seats (at which point I thought that he was lost) and down to the V.I.P. section. I couldn't believe it. We were in front of the front row. We had the very best seats in the whole place! I felt like a celebrity! The ice was literally only a few feet in front of us. Saxon was so excited to be so close and to have his very own pizza to eat. Bridger sat on my lap and didn't move through the whole performance. I've never seen him sit so still. I couldn't believe it!
This is Saxon smiling with a mouthful of pizza. Then Bridger did the biggest cheesiest smile I have ever seen, just to copy Saxon, and my camera was too slow and I missed it! I couldn't talk him into doing it again, so instead, we got this little smile:

CARS:

THE LITTLE MERMAID:
(Ursulas eels came right out and into Saxon's face. He backed up as far as he could against Mike)

THE LION KING:
(In this show, the hyenas came for Saxon)

TINKERBELL and MIKEY and MINNIE:

It was amazing! We've never sat that close at anything before, and probably never will again. So, THANK YOU SO MUCH MIKE! It was really amazing!

Almost Spring...

The weather has been warming up lately, making us anxious for spring.
I love spring-time!
I love the flowers, the strawberries, playing outside again, nighttime walks, going to the park, etc.
We can't wait!
Well, just as we are thinking that it's almost springtime, we get more snow...

We took the boys out because we aren't sure how many more big snow storms we'll get this season. We got all this snow, but most of it was gone by the end of the day. Bridger didn't last very long. He's not a snow baby.
Saxon is though. He made a giant "frosty," snow angels, and went sledding.

Yesterday we went to Andi's house for Cohen's birthday.
I told her I would make the cake because I love baking.
I copied an idea I saw on the internet and this is how it turned out:

Jeff came over and did the animal show for the kids.
It was SO GOOD!!!!!
The kids and the adults were REALLY into it.
I've seen most of his animals before and I still learned a bunch of new stuff.
He taught the kids how to identify a poisonous snake, why they shed their skin, and how to feed the turtle and the lizards.
He's so good with kids too. One of the babies that was there reached in and tried to grab a handful of his Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches. Jeff just laughed and so no one got scared.
Jeff asked if any of the kids would volunteer to eat a mealworm.
Guess who volunteered?
That's right...Saxon.
He'll do anything. Jeff was all for it but Megan and I both said no. Gross.
His animal show really was amazing and we only gave him 1 day notice to plan.
I can't wait to have him come for my kid's birthdays :)

Sledding with Cousins

I'm really late in posting these, but there were so many pictures, that I was dreading uploading them :)
A few weeks ago, we went to the Bean Museum to meet Jared & Janalee and the kids.

And after, we went to dinner at Pirate Island.

A week later, Nate's parents came into town, and we went to Jared & Janalee's for dinner.
Bridger loved cookies and pink frosting that we had for dessert:
We took the kids sledding in Heber while Janalee got dinner ready.
Nate & Bridger: Hyrum:

Grandpa Gailey with Bridger: Morgen with Saxon:

Nate & Bridger: Saxon on his own:

Saxon is on the left making snow angels, and Walker is on the right going off a jump:

Right before it was time to go, Saxon wanted Grandpa to take him down the hill. So they hiked up, and up, and up... I'm not sure if Saxon wanted a wild ride or was just trying to postpone leaving. Either way, they made it to the top and back safely and everyone had fun and was freezing.
