3 Peas in a Pod

Or should I say...3 boys in a Sharky Tent...
It was one of those days...the kind that warranted pajamas, movies, and a shark tent in the bedroom.
Saxon had a 102+ degree fever...
Bridger refused to do his hair..."I just wear my Cubs hat!"  I can't explain why he's not wearing pants, he was earlier...
Dalton was too busy hanging out with the big boys to nap, which makes for one cranky baby!
-Screaming coming from the tent
-Bubby: Saxy bein' real naughty in here!
-Me:  Saxon!  If I see you being naughty, I'm taking down the tent
-Saxon:  (zipping up the tent) Now you can't see...
-More screaming
Oh well, this cute face always makes me feel better:
Crazy, busy, boys...

Funny Boys...

I think my boys are hilarious!  Really, truly, very funny.  I think it's one of their talents.  Saxon's teacher tells me all the time how much she loves having him in class because he is SO FUNNY!  Here's a few examples:

Saxon's preschool had a free eye exam for all the kids.  The guy in charge of the exam sang a song to the kids to get them excited.  I guess the song was kind of lame because as soon as he finished Saxon says "Well that wasn't even funny!"  His teacher said it was hilarious because all of the other kids laughed politely but Saxon had to say it like it is.  She said she was trying so hard not to laugh.

After preschool on Friday Saxon's teacher told me that he had to sit in the time out chair for a minute because he wasn't being a good listener.  I asked him what happened and he said "Mom, Ms. Jennifer was being so naughty in school today.  She was using her mean voice!"  I asked what he did when she asked him to sit in the time out chair and he said "I gave her really mean faces like this..."  I had to laugh!  He even admitted that he wasn't being a good listener.

On Sunday, Saxon kept trying to get out of going to church by telling me that he didn't feel good.  When we got there, he just laid his head on Nate's lap and said his whole body hurt.  I decided to take him and Dalton home, but leave Bridger and Nate there for the rest of the meeting.  Bridger kept begging Nate to take him home too.  Nate said no, so pretty soon Bridger lays on the ground moaning that his tummy hurts.  He kept trying to convince Nate that he was definitely too sick for nursery.  Nate laughed and text me.  Since that wasn't working, he decided to take off his clothes, at which point, Nate took him home. l

Once we were all home, Bridger brought out a handful of sunglasses from his room and put a pair on each of us, telling us "let's all be dudes."  Once we were all "dudes", he said "Peace out Girl Scout" and walked out.

Later, while I was taking care of Saxon and Nate was cleaning up dinner, Bridger decides to go skateboarding around the house.  I wasn't really paying attention, but then I see Bridger go zooming by me, standing on the skateboard and Mike caught him in midair right before the skateboard collided with the wall.  Luckily Mike caught him because the skateboard hit with enough force to leave a huge dent in the wall.  I can only imagine what it would have done to Bridger if he had hit the wall too.  But, it didn't scare him because he just said "Whoa" and then got back on the skateboard and headed toward a different wall.

I love my boys!  I love having 3 of them too!  When Dalton was born, my Grandma Sonnenberg told me that she thought that 3 boys was easier than 2 boys.  She said that number 3 would be mellow and happy and would be a distraction for the other 2 so they wouldn't be so wild.  She was SO RIGHT!  My first 2 are busy, busy, busy all the time, and my little number 3 is mellow and happy and just makes me happy all the time.  Three has been so much fun.  I love this phase of parenting because I have 3 kids that are all still home with me.  Saxon has preschool 3 days a week which is a nice break for him, but other than that, we get them all the time.  I think I'm going to be sad when they go to school and I don't get to have them home with me all the time.  It's fun to be able to go to the pool or Dinosaur Museum whenever we want.  I just love my little guys!

Winter Swimming

On Saturday night, we went with Mike to the Legacy Center to go swimming.
It was Dalton's first trip to the pool and he was so good!
Look at those HUGE blue eyes!  He's so cute!
Bridger went down the little slide a million times and then kept trying to jump in the deep end.  He seems sure that if Saxon can swim, so can he...Finally Daddy had to just hold him.
Saxon practiced his swimming and loved the freedom of being able to move around on his own.  With a little more practice, he should be ready for the next level of swimming lessons this summer.
Mike kept laying Dalton on his back and he would stick his feet straight up every time.  It was so funny!
Thanks Mike!  It was so much fun!

The Heros...

My boys LOVE heros.
They love to watch hero movies, play with their hero figures, and of course, BE heros.
So, for Christmas, Grandma Gailey made them hero capes:

They had to try them out immediately by flying around outside in the wind and snow.
It was FREEZING, but nothing stops a true hero!
Dalton has one too, but he stayed inside with me.
We'll work on getting a picture of the 3 heros in their capes...

Monster Trucks and Basketball

Sometimes I really wonder what we would do without Mike.
He hangs out with us when we're bored, runs errands with me, goes on walks with us, and my boys adore him!  Every time Bridger hears the garage door open, he goes running for the door yelling "MIKE!  MIKE!"  Now that we don't all fit in one car, he cries for Mike when we meet somewhere instead of Mike riding with us.

Last week on Friday, Mike called and said that he was going to a Monster Truck Rally with his friend Mike and his kids.  Friend Mike's daughter couldn't come so they had an extra ticket and he wanted to know if Saxon would want to go.  Of course Saxon wanted to go.  He was SO EXCITED!  Well, Bridger realized that Saxon was going with Mike and he was devastated!  He sat at the bottom of the stairs crying "me want Mike!"  When Mike got to our house, he said that he would take Bridger too and just keep him on his lap.  Both boy promised not to tantrum or ask for anything, and took off with Mike without looking back.  When they got home, both boys had had the time of their lives and couldn't stop talking about it.  It once again reaffirmed that Mike is their favorite person!
Then, Mike text me on Thursday night to say that the Utah Flash were playing on Friday and to see if we wanted to go.  We met Mike and Jeff & Meg at the China Buffet (Mike and Jeff's favorite Friday night dinner) and then met Mike's friend Mike and his family at the Flash game at half-time.  It turns out that going at half-time was perfect!  My kids can only handle about half a game, and parking was free and so were the tickets.  A lot of people had left already since the Flash were getting killed, and so the kids had plenty of room to run around. The Flash ended up pulling it together and won in overtime.  It was a fun game for us, and the kids got to run around with friends, so it was a fun game for them!

Bridger was being so silly!  He kept giving me his cheesy smile and he kept trying to talk Megan into showing him her babies.  He tried to lift up her shirt to find them, and then he tried to open her belly with a key.  He is so excited to meet his new baby cousins.
Saxon asked me on the way to the game "Is Jeff having 5 girls or 6 girls?  Oh yeah, probably just 9 girls."  It was so funny!  He spent the whole time at the game playing with his friends and loving every minute of it!

Dalton spent most of the game on Megan's lap and loved every minute of it!

4 months

Well, I have been really behind on blogging.
Not because we haven't been doing anything,
but because we've been so busy!
Three has really kept us busy all the time!

Baby Dalton was officially 4 months on the 9th.
I just can't get enough of this cute guy!
He is giggly, wiggly, and happy almost all of the time.
He loves to coo and babble and LOVES attention.
So far, he's been easy going and sweet for me all the time.
We're working on sleeping through the night and I think he's finally catching on.
I know better than to think that the "easy going" part will last, but I'm enjoying it while it does.  I'm sure the big boys will teach him everything he needs to know soon enough.
At his 4 month check up he was:
15 lbs. 11 oz.  - 65%
25.75 inches - 78%
his head is 16 inches - 12%
The doctor said it was so fun to see Dalton that day because the rest of his day had been uncooperative 18 month olds and it was fun to get a happy 4 or 6 month old mixed in.

We love you baby Dalton!

quote

"The homemaker has the ultimate career. All other careers exist for one purpose only - and that is to support the ultimate career. "

I found this when I was looking for quotes to go in the boys' blurb books, and I liked it.  I love staying home with my kids!

First Haircut

I finally got around to trimming Dalton's hair the other day.
He's been needing it for about a month.
He is in between baby hair and real hair, so some of it is growing out with blond roots and dark ends, and other parts are all falling out.  Every time I run my hands through his hair, a bunch falls out.  So, I sat him on the sink in his Bumbo chair and fixed his hair.  It doesn't look any different in the pictures, but it looks better in real life.  In fact, it's starting to grow faster, so I might need to do it again soon :)

December Art

Here's Saxon's art work from December:
Left:  The bear in a box full of things that start with the letter "B"
Right:  Santa Claus
Left: Letter to Santa asking for Bigfoot (thank you Mike for helping out Santa)
Right:  Grateful for Christmas :)
Above Left:  Countdown to Christmas calendar
Above Right:  "Stevie" the Elf
Below:  hand print Reindeer
Saxon wearing his Rudolph antlers and holding up Super-Bear.
They had a "Superhero Day" in the beginning of December where each kid dressed up like their favorite hero.  Saxon LOVED it!
Saxon LOVES school.  He has fun, he gets to be creative, and best of all, his teacher loves him!  How could you not love this cute guy!

Happy 2011!

Happy New Year!
Since Nate had to work last night, Gregor and Joy came over for a little while to celebrate with us.  We ordered pizza, watched movies, and Gregor was nice enough to do poppers on the balcony with the kids since it was only 8 degrees outside!  Gregor and Joy had to leave after that because they had some other parties that they needed to be at also :)

After they left, the kids and I stayed up until 10 to watch the ball drop LIVE in NYC.  We had Martinellis or "Marti-melli's" as Saxon says, gave kisses, and yelled "Happy New Year!"  Saxon saw all of the couples kissing on TV and said "Mom, I think I should kiss you like that!"  I laughed :)  After that we all got in bed and read Harry Potter until the boys fell asleep.
We finally gave Gregor his Christmas present, which was this monster shirt that matches Bridger's monster shirt.  They looked awesome together!
Today, Nate had to work again, so the kids and I got up and watched the Rose Parade and made muffins.  Then we played operation and memory.  It turns out that Saxon is AMAZING at memory.  He beat me every time.

Once Nate got home, we made dinner, had more Martinelli's, and are now getting ready for bed.  How cute is Baby Shark here?!  I just want to kiss and nibble on him every time I get him out of the bath.  His shark towel looks a little like Stitch, doesn't it?  Too cute!
(Thanks Pops, Deanna, & Uncle Nathan)

 Some Favorite Moments from 2010:
-Finding out that I was pregnant with Dalton in January.  I took a pregnancy test which I was pretty sure was negative and I was a little bummed.  My friend Holly came over and told me she thought it was positive.  I took one of her hospital tests (which again looked negative).  Holly swore she could see a line and said that if she was reading that test in the hospital, she would say "positive."  A few days later I took another test and it was definitely positive.  I was so excited!
-My Grandma Beth came to stay with us for a few days in March.  We had a ton of fun, and then when we dropped her off in SLC for her painting seminar, my kids sobbed.  They LOVED having her here.  Saxon didn't want her to leave his sight, including to go to the bathroom.  Every time she would go to the bathroom, he would peek under the door to make sure she was still here.
-When we dropped Grandma off at her painting seminar, we picked my mom up from the airport the same day.  My mom has been coming for a week in March for the last few years.  I LOVE it!  I feel like I hardly see her, and now that I have kids, I really wish she lived closer.  Of course, we all cried when she left.
- Right after she left though, Brittany moved back in April.  We were so excited for that!
-We drove to CA for Lake Webb and my mom's b-day in May.  We got to see Josh & Brooks on the way there and the way back too.  It was so fun to spend the weekend in the sun and on the boat.  Gregor also proposed to Joy in May and we couldn't be happier about that!
-In June we did our first round of swimming lessons and signed both boys up.  I looked forward to it everyday.  The kids were so cute and it was so fun to have something to do every morning.  Saxon learned to swim for real by the end and Bridger just had fun.  My dad also came into town for Nathan's BYU basketball camp in June.  We got to spend more time with him that week than I have in years.  It was so much fun.  He took the boys to the Bean Museum, the BYU dinosaur museum, and bought us gourmet cupcakes and lunch at the CougarEat.  It was awesome!
-We spent the 4th of July at Shaver Lake which is one of my favorite spots in the world.  The doctor's were worried about Dalton before we left because he was measuring in the 9% and babies shouldn't drop below the 10%.  My mom was so helpful with the kids that week that I was able to rest and lay in the sun all week.  The next time we saw the perinatologist, Dalton had grown to the 11% and so he was back in the safe zone :)
-In August, we got to have Gregor live with us.  It was really crowded, but we really missed him when he left.  Gregor and Joy also got their endowments and then got married in the Bountiful Temple.  We had Saxon's b-day party the next day while all the family was still in town.  My Grandpa and Jenna said that it was like a 72 hour party!
-Dalton's birth on September 9th. I feel like I've always known him and been close to him.  Thinking back on our family before him feels kind of lonely.  I'm so glad he's here!  I'd spent the entire year counting down the days until I could finally meet him.  Since he's been born, time has gone so fast!  He's already almost 4 months old!

Since Dalton's been born, I feel like I've been so busy every day!  It's kind of all been a blur.  We've had so much going on, but we've loved every minute of it.  This has been one of the busiest years of my life with lots of ups and downs.  I'm looking forward to 2011 and everything that it will bring!
