I Cried for You

Last night I went visiting teaching, and left my kids with Mike (who graciously agreed to babysit) for a few hours. When I got home, Saxon decided to re-enact what happened since I left.

It went something like this:

(fake crying) "Mommy, I cry"
-You cried for me?
"Uh-huh" (more fake crying)
and this face...

-What else happened?
"boots"
-You even got your boots on?
"Uh-huh, Let's go, Mike no, cold"
(more fake crying) and this face...

(more fake crying and stomping his feet)
-You even tantrumed?
"Uh-huh, Mike cream-creams"
-Mike bribed you with ice cream?
"Uh-huh"
(still fake crying) and this sad face...

"Mike, be right back, 5 minutes"
-Mike said 5 more minutes?
"Uh-huh"

"Mommy, Saxy come teaching...I cry for you"
-You wanted to come visiting teaching?
"Uh-huh"
(and more fake crying, just to make the point clear)

And obviously, Saxon's stories usually involve only the key words, some sign language, and some reenacting. He's told me this story several times. His feelings were very hurt that I went "teaching" without him :)

A Work of Art...

One of Saxon's favorite movies is "Curious George,"
especially this part of the movie...

Saxon has also been begging to "cut cut" lately.
So, I unleashed him on my junk mail.
He managed to shred every piece into little bits.
Who needs a shredder when you have a Saxon?

Being this creative is exhausting!

New Look

I just inherited this bedding from my Grandma Beth.
Thanks Grandma!
It's not complete yet, because I don't have pillows big enough for the matching pillow shams, but this is close to what it will look like...

And, Andi brought me this cute antique highchair a few days ago. I was so excited!
I never bought a highchair because they are so expensive and I don't have room in my house. I had been wanting an antique one like hers, because it's small. So, she found this and brought it over. I love it!

Blue eyes like me...

This is the email Gregor sent me

from his quick Friday - Sunday
trip to California.
"Blue eyes like me"

While Gregor was in California, This is what he missed...
Bridger can sit :)
He's only 5 1/2 months, so I'm pretty proud of him!

And roll...
though he usually gets so distracted
by his yummy toes
that he doesn't quite make it
all the way over :)

I love these big blue eyes too!

while enjoying the sun...

and ice...
It didn't snow,
this is just the frost...
We miss the sun!

Dinner and Dinosaurs

The kids and I had been trapped in the house all day long.
When Nate got home we decided to do something fun.
So we called Mike, who is always up for something fun!
We decided to go to the XANGO theater and see the
3-D Dinosaur movie!
Saxon loved it...of course! He loves the Dinosaur Museum!
This is him loving it!

After, Mike took us to JCW's where Bridger enjoyed some french fries...

And Mike told Saxon to drink fry sauce through a straw...
I almost threw up!
It was so disgusting!
The more I gagged, the more fry sauce he guzzled!

As a reward, Mike bought him an ice cream ("cream-cream") cone...

Which he shared with Bridger...

And then licked him clean.
What a good helper!

The Sugar Baby and the Frogs

Whenever we visited Chicago as kids,

we loved to see Uncle Scott's
"Animal Show."
My kids love to go see Uncle Jeff's Animal Show!
Here's Mike showing us Jeff's new baby,
"Herman".

Saxon called it the squirrel,
but Mike said it's actually
a Sugar Glider...

I'm not an animal lover, but Herman was pretty cute!

Saxon loved it! He cried the whole way home for Mike and Herman.
I guess we'll have to go back later and see the "Animal Show" again :)
We did go back later so Saxon could feed Herman
peanut butter and mealworms.
Jeff handed Saxon a mealworm
and after looking at it,
he dropped it and said,
"Ew...a snake!"

Jeff handed him a dragon/lizard instead and asked,
"Saxon, what is it?"
"Ribbit, Ribbit, IT'S A FROG!"
We could not convince him that it wasn't a frog!

After spending the evening with Uncle Jeff,
Saxon learned about the important things in life...
-how to say "marsupial"
-how to feed Herman
-that you have to dust crickets in calcium to feed the "frogs"
-that you have to sit when you hold the animals
-that mealworms have protein (he tried to feed one to Saxon, who would have eaten it if I hadn't screamed)

Grandpa & Grandma Sonnenberg

Grandpa and I had a stand-off tonight on where we would have dinner...
I wanted to go to the Mayan
(because the kids would love it!)
Grandpa was sure he would get food poisoning,
so he wanted Chuck-a-Rama...
I do NOT like Chuck-a-Rama!
Grandpa apparently loves it...
After many phone calls,
and lots of negotiating,
we were able to decide on Buca di Beppo,
even though Grandpa does NOT like Italian,
(or Chinese, or Mexican, etc.)
He was a good sport though
and even treated us!

As soon as we get there, guess what Saxon finds...
That's right...the pee fountain...
First Saxon giggled and told me "the baby pee-pee!"
Then he touches it,
Then he gets his hands wet,
Then he did exactly what I was afraid he was going to do...
He drank out of it!

Bridger was fabulous!
He was smiley and giggly
and even posed with Jeff and
his Great Grandpa Sonnenberg.

Of course we can't eat out without ordering
Canoli!
It's Nate and Jeff's favorite
from living it Italy.

This was our group, Megan holding Bridger, Jeff eating canoli, Grandpa, Grandma, Mike, and Nate. Saxon is playing in the pee fountain and I'm taking the picture :)
