Point of View

At some point during the evening,
Saxon took charge of the camera.
So...this is Jeff & Meg's Wedding,
from Saxon's point of view.
Enjoy!

Happy Mother's Day!!!

We spent Mother's Day at my Grandpa and Grandma Sonnenberg's house.
The boys love all the attention they get from their Great-Grandparents!
Grandpa got down on the floor to play pat-a-cake with Bridger.
Bridger giggled the whole time,
and was all smiles for Grandpa!
Saxon played the pirate game with Grandpa,
and cracked up when it was Grandpa's sword that made the pirate pop out of the barrel.
Then he made pizza and birthday cake with Grandma and kept trying to get Grandpa to take a bite.
I love this face!
This is Grandpa playing pat-a-cake with Bridger. I don't think he knew I was recording, but I thought it was priceless. I don't think many kids have Great-Grandparents that spend this much time with them and are this active. My kids are really lucky! We love you Grandpa and Grandma. Thanks for having us over tonight!

"What makes a mother all that they are?
You might as well ask, 'What makes a star?'
Ask your heart to tell you her worth,
Your heart will say, 'Heaven on Earth'
Another word for divine
Your mother and mine."
Your Mother and Mine - Disney's Peter Pan

At dinner today, my Grandpa asked each of us to tell about a memorable experience with our mothers. It made me think how grateful I am for my mom, who is Super-Woman! I love her!!! She has taught me so much and is my best friend.

Grandpa talked about his mom, Oma, who I never knew. He said that his favorite thing about her was how protective she was of her children. He said one time, when he was young, during the depression, his mom sent him to the store for bread. His dad, Opa, wanted bread with dinner and his mom forgot to get some earlier. But, he had a hole in his pocket, and on the way to the store, lost the dime. He had to go home without the money, and without the bread. He said that Opa was a "strict German man" and was going to spank him for losing the money, because during the depression, a dime was a lot of money. But, Oma intervened and told him that she had earned an extra tip that day at work and gave him another dime. He went to the store and bought the bread. Oma praised him and thanked him for being willing to make two trips to the store. Grandpa talked about how loving she was, and how she always took care of her children, and that she had a photographic memory. Grandp said he gets his friendliness and his memory from Oma.

Grandma talked about her mom and how she lived near a rabbit farm, where they raised rabbits for meat. She talked about how she would make the best fried rabbit and serve it to people because it "tastes just like chicken." The first time Grandpa came over to meet Grandma's family, Grandma's mom served him fried rabbit. She said her mom would always say, "I wish I had a million dollars so I could help..." She never had much but she always wished she did so that she could help the people that she knew and loved.

Aunt Clair talked about her memories of Grandma and how she always took care of everyone. Grandma would have to make dinner for her 7 kids and take care of them, then go over to Opa's house and make dinner for him. Grandma said that when she first met Opa, he didn't like her...but by the end, he couldn't live without her. She took care of him right along with everyone else!

Grandpa also told a story about them when they were in Tonga. He said for the Tongan King's 70th birthday, they invited him to the church for a presentation. The King's daughter was a member of the church. They had a red carpet layed out for him and a large throne for him to sit on (large because Grandpa said he weighed about 450 lbs.) After the presentation, he walked by Grandma, who was sitting in the front. He stopped to tell her what a beautiful woman she was, before he left. Grandpa showed us some pictures of Grandma when they were in Tonga. She was beautiful! Grandpa showed us a picture of Grandma when she was 60, with Miss America, who was 20. Grandpa said they looked like sisters because Grandma has always been so young and beautiful!

I love hearing stories from them, so it was fun to spend the day with them. I wanted to write everything down so I would remember...
I hope everyone had a Happy Mother's Day!

Jeff & Meg's Wedding

Jeff and Megan got married today in the Manti Temple.
Here's a few pictures from this morning...
They looked gorgeous!
Saxon was thrilled to help Megan carry her dress.
He called her "Princess Megan" all day.
The Manti Temple is amazing!
I wish I could have spent more time there just walking around and taking pictures.
Here are my cute boys at the reception...

Our family...
Saxon and Uncle Nathan.
And Mr. Bridger having some wedding cake.
At the end of the wedding, Saxon got a hold of my camera and took a million pictures from his point of view. Tomorrow I will post some of those so you can see what Saxon thought of this whole wedding business.

Planting Flowers

Every spring we plant new flowers in our flower pots and planters.
This year, Saxon wanted to help...
This is him smashing all of the flowers down into the pot.
The proud owner of some well-smashed flowers.
He definitely has a green thumb.
The escape artist.
He has to be where ever the action is!
Rolling in the dirt Saxon spilled.
Saxon was the one that opened the door for him,
"Bridger want to see..."
Saxon admiring his fine work.
Finally, making sure the plants never go thirsty again!

More Tulips...

We went to the tulip festival again last week with some friends of ours and their little girl, Chloe. She can hold her own with Saxon, which is rare, so they get along great!
Smelling the flowers...
Feeding the fish turned out to be the best part of the whole thing for the kids.
Of course, they had to put the money in and turn it themselves.
This is Saxon deciding on if he should just jump right in.
He definitely would if there weren't so many adults near by to stop him.
While the kids were rolling down the hill, we all got distracted talking.
When we looked up, Saxon had his pants around his ankles, peeing on the grass.
Apparently he really had to go...
We finished up with some kettle corn...yummy!

Super Saxy

Check out Super Saxy in the Superhero Cape we borrowed from Andi...
Look at those muscles!
And here's the Super-Sidekick...Bridger!
The Superhero cape is going to be the next giftbasket giveaway on Andi's blog.
My kids definitely love them!
I hope someone I know wins it :)

I'm adding this is because I thought it was pretty funny and typical:
-Broken Manners-
We had pasta for dinner tonight and I gave some to Bridger. Before you know it, he has angel hair pasta tangled in his own hair. Nate and I laughed, of course. What else can you do? Next thing I know...Saxon is dumping his whole bowl of pasta on his head and laughing. I should have seen that one coming! As I was trying not to laugh, I said:
-Saxon! That's naughty! Where are your manners?
-Um...they're broken. Saxy have broken manners...
I guess that explains a lot...

Brookie's Prom

I thought I'd post some pictures of Brooke at Prom
because I can't believe she is old enough to go,
and I can't believe how GORGEOUS she looked!
The first Prom (Friday night) was at the
Gene Autry Museum.

This is Brooke and her friend Emalee.
Brookie did her own hair and made her own headband.
So cute...I want one!

This was my first attempt at copying pictures...
they turned out small?

This is Brooke at Valencia's Prom at
The Ronald Reagan Library.
I can't get over how beautiful she is!
She looks like a picture out of a magazine.
I love you Brookie!
I'm so glad you had a good time, I wish we could have been there.
When you come out here this summer,
you definitely have to be my personal stylist.
You're so creative and daring and original!
I could use some Brookie influence :)

9 months...

My baby is 9 months already!!!
It's gone so fast.
We went from this...
to this.
Look at those cheeks!
They are so yummy!
I love to kiss them and nibble on them all day long!

Here's what Bridger is up to at 9 months...
-Crawls everywhere, but is gets frustrated because he wants to walk.
-He can walk holding on to things and loves to let go and see what happens...usually he crashes.
-He babbles all the time and complains when he's not getting enough attention.
-He puts everything in his mouth! Grass, toys, food, trash, whatever he can get his little paws on.
-He has 2 bottom chompers and the 2 top ones are trying to come through.
-He is obsessed with his froggy bottle pet. He can't sleep without it.
-He's not thrilled about baby food, but loves people food. He especially loves yogurt and red vines.
-Loves peek-a-boo and 5 little piggies with his toes and being tickled and tossed in the air.

-He loves his big brother Saxon and thinks he can do whatever Saxon can do.
-He loves sitting on Saxon's firetruck and pushing all the buttons.
-He loves the bath and splashing.
-Saxon makes up new nicknames for him all the time. Today was "Bridger chubba lova."
-Great napper, not so great at night...
-He wants me to carry him around all the time so he doesn't miss out on any of the action.
-He's starting to be so opinionated!
-Still has the biggest smile in the world!!! (Nate's smile)
-Overall, the cutest little chubba in the world!
