Today was Halloween: Part 2
First of all, here are the cool pumpkins that Nate stayed up until 1 am carving.
Didn't he do a great job!?
And...we grew them all in our garden on only one pumpkin plant :)
For dinner we got Papa Murphy's Jack-o-lantern pizza and we roasted pumpkin seeds to try the sweet & spicy recipe off of Brittany's recipe linky party.
Cinnamon and cayenne pepper...it actually turned out good even though I'm not a spicy person.
My three heros...
Saxon's little girlfriend, Chloe, from church was Iron Man. They all looked so cute as superheros. His other friend, Nelson, was Spiderman, but I didn't get a picture of all of them together.
Saxon's other girlfriend, Riley, met us over at Brittany and Johnse's house to go trick-or-treating in their neighborhood. Brittany was awesome and took the kids out in the rain to get candy. After, Saxon went upstairs with Brittany's in-laws to count his candy and organize it where no one could see or take it. It was so funny!
My Grandma Sonnenberg sent me this email today:
"I remember my kids, and their Halloween parties. They just dressed up, (not allowed to wear masks) They had some treats, and came home, to get ready for "trick or treating" around the neighbor.
Your Dad and Brent would take an old pillow case and see which one could get the most candy. They would dump it in the middle of the living room floor, and count it. They would refill the case and put it under their bed, and no one would dare touch it. (one piece at a time) I was always hoping it would last until Christmas, but somehow, it got away from me.
The boys would dress your Dad up as a football player, with shoulder pads, helmet, and black sute under his eyes, from the fireplace. I had five "romping" football players, all ready to go clean up the neighborhood."It made me laugh how much kids, esp. boys, are so much the same. I asked Saxon what his teacher was going to be for Halloween and he said "A football player" because who wouldn't want to be a football player for Halloween? (She was Snow White).
When my boys finished trick-or-treating, they did exactly what my Grandma's boys did...dump it out in the middle of the living room floor and count it and then hide it from each other.
Here's a cute story from Saxon today:
He has been counting down from the minute he woke up for it to get dark so he could go trick-or-treating. When it finally started getting dark, it started to rain. Saxon was devastated! He went out on the balcony, looked up at the sky, and yelled, "Heavenly Father! Why are you ruining my Halloween!" I explained that Heavenly Father doesn't like to be yelled at and that maybe he should try asking nicely. After he stopped crying he decided to ask the right way (say a prayer). So, he sat on my lap and said a prayer asking Heavenly Father to stop the rain for Halloween. He even promised to start "showing love one another" because it is something we are working on. When we left our house to go to the ward party, it was raining. When we left the ward party to go to Britt's, it was pouring. When the kids left Britt's house to go out and trick-or-treat, the rain stopped. On the way home, Saxon told us that Heavenly Father stopped the rain for him. I was so glad because I didn't want to have the "sometimes Heavenly Father says no" talk with him just yet.

This picture is Saxon in his "Spider Hat" from preschool.
I'm getting ready to get rid of some preschool projects, but I wanted a picture first :)

The pumpkins do look great! And I think it is extra awesome that you grew them all yourself. The boys look really cute as superheros
That is such a cute story!
