Disney on Ice

Thursday night we went to Disney on Ice!
Mike surprised us with tickets to it. :)
Nate was able to come this time which was really fun for the kids.
Saxon was so into it that he wouldn't look up at me for a picture. So, here he is munching on his chicken basket.

Bridger had a good time chewing on Nate's sweatshirt strings.

And since it's been a few days since I posted,
here's what else has been going on...
Yes, this is exactly what it looks like,
Saxon peeing off the balcony.
I was horrified!
(As I'm sure our neighbors were as well).
In Bridger news...
I think he might be getting a tooth.
I'm kind of sad, it will make him look like a big boy.

Courtesy of Uncle Gregor

These next few pictures are courtesy of Uncle Gregor.
The moments that make me want to scream are the moments that he finds to be "picture perfect."
He always captures Saxon at his best...

This is Saxon insisting on pooping on the balcony,
and Bubby watching and learning.
I bought slipcovers for my couches because they were getting pretty beat up. We were trying to pull them as tight as we could, to get them to fit right, and this is Saxon being oh so helpful.
Which ever couch we were working on,
there he was, "helping".

Go Cougars!

Saturday night, Mike took us to a BYU basketball game.
BYU won, but barely.
Saxon loved it, but
Bridger thought it was too loud.
I dressed the boys in BYU blue :)
It was sold out, so we were lucky that Mike bought tickets off some guy standing out front.

When the cheerleaders performed at half-time, Saxon yelled,
"Go Brookie Go! Go Football!"
We miss Brookie, so we cheered right along with him, "Go Brookie!"
All cheerleaders must be Aunt Brookie.

This is me and my little stud!

This is Bridger and Daddy.
He was all smiles until it got too loud.

Saxon and Mike (who spoils him rotten)

This is Saxon doing the National anthem.
He participated in everything.
He even sang the fight song every time
(improvising on the words though).

His favorite part was doing free throw fingers
and saying "Whoosh!"
every time they made it.
Luckily they made a lot of free throws.

What a fun night!
Thanks Mike!

Potty Trained

I think I can finally get rid of the potty training ticker and declare Saxon
POTTY TRAINED!
(I'm knocking on wood as I write this)
but it has been over a month since he has had an accident,
including at night! :)
Nate has taught him everything he needs to know:
-He pees standing up
-He can play swords
-He wakes himself up at night if he has to pee
-He LOVES to pee outside
-He makes sure to "point it down" and "shake it off" when he's done
-He prefers boxers
-Every time he poops in the potty he says, "Look mom, I SOOOO Happy!"
I'm finally down to just one in diapers
and I am definitely "SOOOO Happy" about that.

I hope they call me on a mission...

I think about my mission a lot and how important it was to me. It's so cool that Nate and I both served missions because it's an experience that we can talk about together. If you didn't serve a mission, you can't entirely relate to some of the crazy things missionaries go through. Nate's mom was joking the last time she was in town about all these boys in our family. She said that Heavenly Father must need a lot of missionaries in the coming years. I totally agree! It got me thinking about ways I can prepare my little guys to be great missionaries one day. I want them to know how important it is and what a life changing experience it is for you and the people you teach.

I was reading my friend Rachel's blog and came across some cute children's books that she recommended. There was a book called "This is Edinburgh." Edinburgh, Scotland is where my dad served his mission. I called and asked him if he would buy the book for Saxon and Bridger and tell them how important his mission was to him.

This is a picture of my Dad and Grandpa and Grandma Sonnenberg in front of the old MTC in Salt Lake.
Early this morning, the Fed-Ex guy rang our doorbell.
That can only mean one thing...
a package from Grandpa Dean!!!

The boys and I opened it right away.
I couldn't believe it!
He sent the boys the Edinburgh book with a letter inside about his mission. He also sent pictures from his mission that I've never even seen! He sent all kinds of Scottish cookies and treats and two flags. He also sent Saxon some animal alphabet flash cards that he has been wanting and a book called "Follow the Line around the World." He even included a book about Scottish poet Robert Burns and a picture of him as a missionary standing in front of Burns Cottage.
My boys thought it was Christmas!
Bridger immediately helped himself to some shortbread.

And Saxon tried one of everything.

Thank you so much Dad!
That was the greatest gift ever and so much more than I expected!
Thanks for being a good example to my boys!
(This is a picture of Great-Grandpa Sonnenberg, Grandpa Dean, Muriell, and Elder Rose)
Now I need to work on the other returned missionaries that my boys love and get stories and books about their missions :)

Toddler Gym

We decided to try out the
Toddler Gym Class
at the Pleasant Grove Rec. Center.
It was cute.
They had four different sports centers.
Golf
Football

Kickball
and T-ball.
Bryn, Kenna, Vienna, and Cohen all came,
so they all had fun together.
I thought it was going to be a tumbling class like the American Fork rec. center, but instead it was mostly games. Oh well... Once he turns 3 we can do "itty bitty sports."
We'll see what they do next week...

Discovery Park

Holly and I decided to go on a wild goose chase today to see if we could tour all of the local rec. centers. We wanted to see what they offer and compare prices.
But first, we stopped for lunch.
This is Saxon loving his Bryn!

The kids were so good for riding in the car all afternoon, that we took them to Discovery Park in Pleasant Grove.
It's the coolest park I've ever been to!
It has tons of little learning centers for the kids to experiment with.
They had a BLAST,
though you wouldn't know it from the pictures
because neither of them would look or smile.
We ended up at the big slide for most of the afternoon.
This is one of the music centers.
My arms feel like they are going to fall off after lugging my Bridger around.
Good thing he's so cute!
I couldn't get them to pose for a "playing checkers" picture because every time Brynley would make a pile of rocks for her side, Saxon would dive across the table and mess them up.
We decided that maybe they're too young for checkers :)
So, even though I'm exhausted, it was a fun day.
Next time we're going while school's in session,
there were way too many teenagers with multi-colored hair at the park.

The Reptile Show

Mike and Jeff came over for dinner
and Jeff brought The Reptile Show!
This is Jeff's new snake
"Little Megan"

Jeff is teaching Saxon to LOVE animals.
This is Jeff and Saxon holding the baby turtle named
"Little Megan."

And a close-up of Little Megan.
Isn't she cute?

7 months

Today my Bridger is 7 months!
(well, he would be on February 31, but since that doesn't exist, today it is!)

Here's some of the things he can do:
-He can army crawl. Well, it's more like an inchworm. He moves his knees up, but forgets to move his arms. So he scoots his little legs up, nose-dives, straightens out, then does it again. He can get just about anywhere like that.
-We're pretty much done nursing. He's a big boy now.
-He chews on anything in his reach, but still no teeth.
-He still has the best smile and laugh I have ever seen!
-Sometimes he sleeps through the night.
-He is in his big boy room with Saxon now, in the crib.
-He thinks Saxon is the funniest person he has ever met! He cracks up anytime Saxon pays attention to him.
-He's a water baby. He already loves the pool!
-He's over his pacifier. He thinks it's funny toy, but he doesn't like sucking on it.

-He's my angel baby where ever we go (except in the car, he doesn't like his seat).

LOST

This is where I frequently lose Saxon.
Sometimes I hear a muffled
"Help Mommy Help"
because his head fits under the couch,
but he can't get it back out.
Sometimes I wonder if he will ever learn!
Then I realize that he has learned that every time he gets his head stuck under the couch, mom will get it back out...

These are some other funny Saxon-isms:

This morning he found a pack of crayons that I brought back from Brasil.
He held one up and asked,
"I break it?"
-No, no you cannot break it! Those are Mommy's special crayons.
A few minutes later a sad-faced Saxon hold up the broken brown crayon,
"Aww dang it!"
as if it spontaneously combusted.
-Saxon, that makes Mommy sad!
"Aww man!"
and he shows me his other hand with all of the broken crayons.
I wish I could say it was all an accident.
I'm pretty sure it was on purpose.

Last night Saxon wanted to "snuggle" in our bed.
As he was tossing and turning and rolling,
he looks up at the pictures above our bed and says:
"Mommy. Daddy. Jesus' temple.
Temple Jesus' house."
I was so proud of him.
What a smart boy!

Right now he is sitting on the couch,
listening to primary music,
reading US Weekly.

Earlier he dragged out my pink tool box
(thank you Holly)
and started telling me the names of all the tools.
Like father like son.
He walks around the house pretending to "fix" things.
Unfortunately, it's usually things that he broke to begin with.
