Halloween: Part 1

This year, we are having a 3 day Halloween Celebration!
Today is Day 1:
First we went to Saxon's Halloween Carnival at Preschool.
They had games, a bounce house, a slide, a "haunted" maze that you ride a scooter through (it was really cool), tons of prizes, a performance by all of the kids, and a pizza party at the end.  The kids were so sad when it was over.  They LOVED the big slide, but couldn't quite understand the point of the cake walk.  They both walked away before the music even stopped :)

Saxon wasn't that interested in most of the songs that they sang, but he did sing the "Frankenstein" song.  He was even singing it in his sleep last night...it was so cute!  Since Nate couldn't be there, he came home and sang some of the songs for Nate too.
The slides were a hit, and so was the cotton candy machine.
My kids were so excited to get their first cotton candy.
Saxon loved it and ended up sticky and blue for the rest of the carnival.
Bridger looked at it and said "This Wucky" and handed it back.
Dalton slept through the whole thing.
Saxon's teacher (Miss Nettie) dressed up as Snow White.  She looked so cute!

To celebrate "Halloween: Part 1" we had butternut squash soup in pumpkin bread bowls.  The kids actually ate a lot of it too because they were so excited about their bread bowls.
After dinner, we went over to our neighbors house to carve pumpkins.  We had 5 pumpkins (one for each of us) and it took FOREVER!  Nate is still carving them.  I'll have to post a picture of the finished pumpkins later.  We did save the seeds though so we can roast them :)

I made this fun "Candy Cake" for the pumpkin carving party.  It was chocolate cake with Kit-Kat on the outside and Reeses Pieces on top.  I tied an orange ribbon around it and it looked like a candy bowl.  It was fun.  I wish I had a picture of it before we cut it.  I found an "imitation Magelby's famous chocolate cake" recipe online and it turned out really good.  Really rich though...
The kids were totally uninterested in the pumpkins since they had so much fun running around with the neighbor kids.  I tried to get Saxon and Chloe and Bridger together for a picture and instead they all laid down in the grass.  So, this is what I got...
We've got some fun stuff planned for tomorrow too, so we can't wait for Halloween: Part 2!
